2026 BRIX Thanksgiving SAT Intensive Camp
2026 BRIX Thanksgiving SAT Intensive Camp
Make Thanksgiving Your Final Push Toward the December SAT.
November 21–29, 2026 | Live on Zoom 4PM to 8PM Pacific | 7PM to 11PM Eastern
Your student spent the summer building SAT skills. Then school started, and preparation had to compete with assignments, exams, sports, and extracurricular activities.
If the goal is to finish SAT testing in December, Thanksgiving is an ideal opportunity to bring that summer preparation together. Students can return to a consistent routine, address the questions that still cost them points, and practice applying their skills under time pressure.
The BRIX Thanksgiving SAT Intensive with Jay Sung and Heather Oh is designed for this focused push: nine days of substantial practice, detailed review, and live instruction leading into the December SAT.
Why Thanksgiving Is the Right Time to Refocus
During the school year, SAT preparation often happens in fragments. A student learns a strategy over the weekend but may not apply it again until several days later. That gap makes it harder to develop consistent habits.
Thanksgiving break creates an opportunity for sustained work close to the December exam. Students can learn an approach, practice it, review their mistakes, and apply the feedback again the next day.
For students who established a foundation over the summer, this is a particularly useful time for a short, intensive course. They can concentrate on remaining weaknesses, sharpen their pacing, and bring familiar skills into more consistent use.
The summer built the foundation. Thanksgiving is the time to put it to work.
From “It Sounds Right” to “Here’s Why It’s Right”
Over years of teaching local students in Bellevue, we have seen a recurring pattern: students who read and write comfortably in English often approach SAT questions by instinct.
They narrow the choices down to two, then select the answer that sounds more natural. They understand the explanation afterward, but may repeat the same mistake on a different question.
SAT preparation needs to address that decision-making process. Students must learn to identify exactly what a question asks, locate the relevant evidence, apply the appropriate rule, and explain why competing answers do not work.
Changing an established habit takes extensive practice. Our Thanksgiving program gives students repeated opportunities to apply a method across different questions and strengthen their ability to use it independently.

Format | Live on Zoom |
Pacific Time | 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM |
Eastern Time | 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM |

Writing with Heather Oh | 2 hours daily |
Full nine-session program | 36 hours of live instruction |
Students work on the skills that affect both accuracy and efficiency:
Finding precise evidence and following the logic of challenging reading passages.
Distinguishing between closely competing answer choices.
Applying grammar and writing conventions consistently.
Developing an effective approach for each question type.
Managing time and recognizing when a problem is taking too long.
Understanding recurring errors and applying corrections to new questions.
Students attending all nine sessions may work through approximately 12 SAT Reading and Writing test sets, combining live instruction with assigned practice. The final number will depend on class progress.
The workload is substantial. Students should reserve time beyond the daily four-hour class for assigned problems and review. This concentrated practice is central to the program’s purpose: helping students apply what they know reliably when the clock is running.
An Annual BRIX Program with a Long History
BRIX’s Thanksgiving program began with in-person camps in Boston, operated for international school students from 2013 through 2020.
Since 2022, the annual program has been offered live on Zoom for students attending U.S. schools. Students participate from Bellevue, New York, Boston, California, and other regions across the country.
Our experience working with students across these communities has shaped a program that addresses the needs of students learning in English every day who still need focused instruction in how to approach the SAT.
A Digital Mock Exam Is Required Before Joining
All students must complete a timed digital mock exam through the Brixdigital system before participating.
Previously administered on paper, the mock exam now takes place digitally, using actual SAT past exam questions. Students must complete it within the allotted time so that the results reflect their performance under realistic time constraints.
The assessment helps us evaluate students’ understanding of question types, accuracy, and time management. These results inform class placement and identify areas that need attention.
Completing the digital mock exam is a required step before the first class.
Additional SAT Math Review
Students whose mock exam results indicate a need for SAT Math support will be scheduled for two to three separate review sessions before the SAT.
These sessions will focus on problem review and solution methods, with attention to the areas identified in the student’s mock exam performance. Math review will be scheduled separately from the Reading and Writing program.
SAT Foundations (For student preparing their first sat test)
Hannah Jeong + Ju Park
In Person at BRIX Bellevue + Live on Zoom
Students who are newer to SAT preparation need time to understand question types and build consistent approaches before moving into advanced strategy work.
The Foundations class is designed for students with an estimated Reading and Writing score of 630 or below on the required digital mock exam.
Hannah Jeong and Ju Park guide students through structured instruction and extensive practice, emphasizing how to find evidence, apply rules, and explain their answer choices.

This class is especially appropriate for students who are still developing familiarity with the SAT and expect to continue preparing beyond December toward the March, May, or June exams.
Class placement considers diagnostic performance, familiarity with the test, and preparation goals.
Keep the Momentum Through Winter and Spring
For students aiming to finish testing in December, Thanksgiving provides a focused period of preparation close to the exam.
Students with later testing goals can continue through winter break and the spring semester, with classes once or twice a week. The Thanksgiving program helps establish the skills and priorities they will build on during that continued preparation.
Register Early for Materials Prepared Around Your Schedule
Each student’s materials are prepared individually according to their participation dates and number of sessions.
